Thia has been studying and practicing Insight Meditation (Vipassana, Theravada) since 1999 and facilitates meditation groups in and around Charlotte, NC on a regular basis. She's grateful to have found the path of mindfulness meditation and has boundless gratitude for all of her teachers.
Meditation as a training for observing the mind has been scientifically proven to raise awareness of behaviors and patterns, increase patience and compassion for self and others, and to address over-thinking, stress and suffering. Meditation creates a new and different way of relating to our thoughts, our selves and the events in our world. There are a myriad of beneficial physical and psychological effects associated with the consistent practices of meditation and mindfulness.
Vipassana or Insight Meditation is a direct method of cultivating mindfulness and awareness that, over time, shifts our view and therefore our relationship to life. This gentle and experiential training is an ancient system - an effective method of befriending and directing the mind, and is dedicated to the purpose of becoming more aware and less reactionary in regard to one's life experience. Increased awareness brings new choices, greater wisdom and freedom from suffering.
